Are you not much more valuable than they?

Hello everyone!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!  We are snowed in here in NC!  It's gorgeous out but I seriously don't know how we're ever going to get up our driveway!
That said... I'm just going to enjoy being in a nice warm house with the beauty of the snow outside!  It doesn't happen that often here and I love it!

I made today's card to give you a sneak peak at elements of two sets to be released by Our Daily Bread designs on Monday, Feb 1.  You ARE going to want these sets!  They all have the most wonderful Scripture verses, sentiments and images!!! I have given a few other sneak peeks below so feel free to scroll down a bit to see them.  This als ois for IC217 and Cooking it Up with Kate (non human, something new- the stamp sets, and texture... the embossed corners).  I also am entering it in the PGP 4th Friday challenge to create a love themed card with ribbon.  Now this is not a valentine but look at the verse.... it tells you just how loved and valuable you are to God!  There's no greater love than His!

This image is from "You will find refuge" and the verse is specifically designed to fit in a Spellbinders Oval... though it fits in several perfectly... and it's from the set "Sing for Joy".  I used a Kraft base, Cranberry Crisp matting and Penny Black designer paper.  I stamped the image twice, once on unknown marbled cs and then again on very vanilla and cut it out after coloring with Prisma Pencils.  I popped the bird up a bit.  I mounted the SB Label 5 onto a SB Lattice Pendant, then cut my sentiment panel and matted with the scalloped oval.  My corner treatments are a Sizzix Embossing Folder from which I just cut out the corners.  I added a little Kraft ribbon, topped with Cranberry Crisp ribbon and tied on the feather charm with twine.

I hope you have enjoyed this sneak peek.... and don't forget to stop back by on Monday when the talented Our Daily Bread designs Design Team will have some AWESOME projects to share with you!  There will be a Scripture Blog Hop and THREE Chances to win!!! Start at the ODBD Blog and   have fun!!!

  Hello everyone!

When I started my GDT month  at Midnight Madness Priscilla asked if I would do a tutorial for you.  I had made this wallet some time ago and had started putting a tutorial together for it.  This is my first real detailed tutorial so I hope it's ok and that you can follow what I tried to put down.  If not feel free to email me.

Tutorial for Cash and Gift Card Wallet

I first saw the idea for this wallet card from John A VanMulders in Scrap & Stamp Arts, Oct. 2009 Edition.  The directions were very limited, so I set out to make it my own and decided to make a tutorial for it while I was working on it.  It's a fun presentation for those times you want to give a special gift of cash or check and also perhaps a gift card or a phone card for your college student... or whatever.  It's unique because it does have both pockets, if you want them both.

I used the Football pattern paper from The Paper Co.  It has a great look but it is hard to adhere so use tacky tape for sure!  I also used Brushed Copper from the Paper Co, Georgia Pacific White and Basic Black.

Instructions:

Cut 12" x 12" paper @ 7"
Score across @ 4 1/4"
Score again @ 8 1/2"

For the inside:
Cut 1 piece 7" x 2 1/2" long (this is for the check or cash pocket).
Score and fold up 1/2" from bottom.
Cut 1 piece a  1 1/2" x 4 1/2" (this is for the gift card pocket).
Score and fold up 1/2" from bottom.
Cut a piece 4 1/4" x 7".  This will eventually be adhered to lower section of wallet inside

From Top, cut off  3 7/16".  This leaves a flap of 13/16".  The picture below shows where the 4 1/4" x 7" piece you just cut for the lower inside part will be adhered later.

Embellish the outside of wallet:

I cut 2 pieces of brushed copper from The Paper Co. One piece I cut 1" x 7" and the other is 3/4" x 7".  I  sewed across top and bottom of both pieces and attached my silver studded velvet ribbon by Brother & Sister Design Studio (Hobby Lobby).  I   wrapped about 1/2" of the ribbon around the ends of the 1" piece, used tape runner to adhere just the tape's width to the lower edge of the flap.  I adhered a tiny magnet from BasicGrey to the middle of the copper strip,  and then attached the 3/4" piece to the back of the flap, lining up with the lower edge of the front piece.  This covers the ribbon, the magnet,  and gives a finished sewn edge on the inside.

Next I added the opposite magnet piece to the back of my lower fold of the wallet.
Then  I adhered the piece I cut to 4 1/4" x 7", covering the magnet.  This magnetic closure works really well and is a nice touch!

For the front outside of my wallet I embellished with some silver corner pieces and a flower and brad (from Clear Dollar Stamps).

Finish the Inside of the Wallet:

Adhere tacky tape to the two "pockets" you cut and scored.

From the lower fold of the wallet on the inside , measure up  1" and adhere your 7 " long check/cash pocket,  with folded flap on inside.  This makes a pocket.

From the same lower fold of the wallet on the inside as above, measure up 1/2".  Center your 4" long pocket and adhere with tacky tape.  This will form a pocket for the gift/ phone card.

Embellish Inside of Wallet:

I stamped sentiment from Our Daily Bread designs "Thinking of You" set in VersaColor Black  and clear embossed and cut with Spellbinders Label #4.

I cut a square of black cs and centered and cut out a Spellbinder's Label #5.  Using the negative part, I adhered to center of lower section, as a matting for my sentiment panel.
I used a QuicKutz corner die and cut 6 corners, stitched each one, and adhered as shown.

I do hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, and that it was understandable.  I loved the versatility of this one.  I made this long before the faux leather technique was spotlighted on SCS but that would be a great way to do this as well instead of the basketball dp I used.  So many possibilities!  Have fun!  If you make one I'd love a link to it so I can see it!

MMSC38 Let The Trumpets Sound

Hello everyone!  This is my last week as Guest Design Diva for Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  I have to tell you that I struggled with this week's card!  This is one of the lovely images I received from our Monthly Sponsor, D'Amour Allure.  It's a vintage image that is 1 1/4" high and 4" wide.  Trying to work it into the circle sketch this week was a real challenge for me!  I hope you like what I finally came up with!  Once again this week Priscilla is giving you the choice of a more simple layout or one that's stepped up a bit!

I watercolored this image using inks and highlighted with gold gel pen and Sakura Glitter pen for the trumpet.   While you can't see it in the photo, the DP behind the pendant is a vintage musical score which I mounted on chipboard to give strength and additional dimension to the card.  The cranberry DP is printed with a beautiful gold flourishy pattern that also doesn't really show up in the photo.

Card Recipe:
CS: Very Vanilla, Cranberry Crisp
Designer Paper:  Prima's First Blush, Textured God from The Paper Co
Accessories:  Spellbinders Lattice Pendant and extra pieces from that set,  CB Embossing Folder for corners,
Piercing tool, Clear Glitter Sakura Gel Pen for the trumpet, Burgandy Pearls from myb stash.

He Watches Me Side Step Card

Hello everyone!
I made this card for today's Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS as well as for this week's Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge23 (use a touch of green).  We were given the instructions to make this side step card and it was super fun.  This is a Sneak Peek at one of Four Fantastic New sets to be released on Feb. 1 by Our Daily Bread designs.  It's called He Watches Me.  I love ALL these new sets which all have bird or nest images and the best Scriptures and sentiments ever!!! You are going to want these sets!

I used Kaiser DP, Perfect Plum and Bazzil for my papers.  I colored the image with Prisma Pencils, and used my bird book to find a Sparrow that had these bluish gray tones I love so much... this one is colored like a Black Throated Sparrow.  I took the sentiment which is from that wonderful old Hymn, His Eye is on the Sparrow... and I broke it into two linese so I could place half on each step.  For the back step I used a Spellbinders Leaf Frame and cut it to fit, and cut out part of the floral design from the Kaiser dp.  I used SB Fancy tags and Label 6 as well.

My Granddaughter is with me for a few days and I really was rushing to try to get this done and she helped me with it and made one of her own.  So it was a fun, albeit slow project! LOL!  We're having a fun day!

Thanks for stopping by and please have a blessed day!

A sneak peek at our nest

Hello everyone!  I hope you are having a fantastic week!  I am super excited to be giving you an early sneak peek at one of the FOUR new sets being released Feb 1 by Our Daily Bread designs!  This set is called "Nest" and I just love it!  It has great sentiments that would be perfect for a house warming, welcome to your new home, or just every day occasions from our nest to yours!  The image is fun and easy to color!  I stamped mine with Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers. I added a little Flower Soft around the edges of the nest and colored the light green color a little darker with a Copic Marker.

I made the card for the Stamping Sister's in Christ Challenge22 this week which was to focus on the home... whether it be make a welcome to your new home card or decor for the home... it was based on Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".  Amen to that!  If more families did just that... we would not be seeing so many of the problems we are seeing today!  I want to thank this week's Stampin Sisters in Christ  hostess, Candace Mitchell for bringing us this great Scripture and challenge.

Come back soon to see more sneak peeks and do visit all the DT listed in my side bar to see what they've been working on!   We will be doing our monthly RELEASE BLOG HOP on Feb 1 so be sure to come back then!!!

MMSC37 Magnolia in springtime

Hello everyone!  I made this card for Midnight Madness Sketch 37. I can't believe I'm already 3 weeks into my Guest Designer term!!!  I did take a few liberalities with the top elements... made mine flowers instead of gems, but I had so much fun playing with this one.  This is my first Magnolia stamp.  I have had a few images given to me but this is the first stamp I owned and what fun to color!  I'm ready for winter to be over and warm weather to be here... and this makes me think of spring.

I water colored my image, cut her out and popped her up on dimensionals...used the Spellbinders Lattice Borderability at the top and wove little ZVA Creative Silk flowers into the lattice.  The bottom lattice is the Martha Stewart edge punch.  The pearls are also ZVA Creative, the matting for my image is a Cuttlebug Corner die cut.  Ribbon is from Michael's.   Sentiment is from  "My Sentiments Exactly". DP is Daisy D.

Welcome Baby

Hello everyone!  Happy Monday!  It's sunny and glorious out today here is NC... I'm ready for some warmer weather!!!

I made this card for Mojo 122 and for this week's OCC... a color challenge to use blue and green.  This sketch was so fun to work with!  I used the newly released set Noah's Ark from Our Daily Bread designs for my main image and sentiment.  The image is stamped on watercolor paper and watercolored with inks.  The sentiment is stamped directly on the designer paper with Not Quite Navy.  The dp is Baby Blue Scroll from Paper Adventures.  There is a strip of paper ribbon from K&Co (the waves)... and blue gemstones from Reflections.  I painted Shimmerz on the dove and the water.... hope you can see a little shimmer.  IRL it really shimmers.  Thanks for looking and have a blessed day!

Timeless Tues. Meets Stamping in Time

Hello everyone!  Happy Weekend!
I made this card for two challenges.... Flourishes Timeless Tuesday, and Betty's brand new Challenge over on the Our Daily Bread designs Blog,  Stamping in Time!  Betty will be bringing us an assignment challenge on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month!   Feel free to grab her blog button here and post it in your side bar to spread the news of her new challenge!  Be sure to link it to the Our Daily Bread designs Blog!                                                                                                                                                                                                      So this week Betty challenged us to pull our our older sets... specifically the 2009 Anniversary set... The Design Team Scripture Collection 1 and 2.  We were to make a card using one of these two sets, and the challenge was to use word spotlighting.

I chose this verse from Is. 12:2 for my Scripture from the ODBD  DT Scripture Collection 1 set, stamped it with Always Artichoke on creamy cs, over stamped lightly with Amazing Grace Hymn with VersaMark and rubbed Pebbles pearly chalks over it.  After cutting with a Spellbinders Circle Die, I sponged with Always Artichoke.  Then I stamped the verse again with VersaMark, embossed with Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and cut out my two lines, popped them up on dimensionals for my spotlight.

My base is Always Artichoke, Designer Paper is Memory Box Sugardrop, Die Cut leaves and bird is Sizzix, and flowers and bird are airbrushed with Copics. (It's my first shot at the Air Brush, so bear with me while I figure it out! LOL)  I used a Sizzix Embossing Folder for my pink panel, then sponged with AA.

Thanks for looking and for taking the time to leave a comment.  It means so much to me!  To play along with Betty's Assignment Challenge, simply check it out here and link your card by Jan. 27, 6PM EST... there's a prize up for grabs, so why not join in the fun!

Ephesians 4:5-6

Hello everyone!
I made this card for the Color Challenge on SCS on Tues this week (Chocolate, rasberry and pink),  and for Mojo 121.
The versre is from Our Daily Bread designs new release "Baptism and Confirmation" and the dove is from the coordinating set "Confirmation".  I stamped the verse with Chocolate Chip ink onto vellum, cut with Spellbinders Label 8 and sponged the edges.  I didn't want to cover up the pretty designer paper! :)  This yummy dp is also from Our Daily Bread designs... it's SEI  Juliette. I added ZVA pearls, K&Co lace, and Martha Stewart ribbon.

Don't forget that Our Daily Bread designs has a couple great challenges going on right now... for a chance to win some ODBD gift certificates, see the challenge thread on the ODBD Forum on SCS or this blog post.

Also we have a contest going on over at SCS.  We're taking favorite Scripture verses that you would like to see on a new set!  We'll take these verses until Feb. 15 and then 6 will be chosen to be in a new set of "Special Requests".  If your verse is chosen, you will get the set for free and will get it prior to it's release to the public, and you will be given the opportunity to make a card as a sneak peek to be shown on the ODBD Blog!  Check out this thread and leave your favorite... but please check out what's already been used in other sets!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!!!

Our Daily Bread designs January DT Challenge!

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the first Design Team Challenge of 2010 at Our Daily Bread designs!

Chris Olsen challenged us this month to use brown, and to use punches or dies.  Easy peasy right?  We invite you all to play along with us.  You have until Jan 23 to link your card to Mr Linky on the ODBD Blog Challenge for a chance to win one of TWO prizes that will be randomly drawn.  The prizes will be $15.00 gift certificates to go  toward stamps at  the Our Daily Bread designs Store!  If you use an on line gallery, please use key word ODBDC110.

As I mentioned on Jan 1st... we are celebrating this month because we have been selected to be a Member Company on Splitcoast Stampers!  We are very excited and have lots of fun things planned for our forum there!  These is a Prayer Request thread, chit chat and a challenge thread.  Stay tuned for weekly challenges that will mean more prizes and more fun for everyone!!!  To celebrate our new member status, we are giving away a BIG prize to one lucky winner... a $50.00 Gift Certificate to the Our Daily Bread designs store!  To enter that drawing, simply leave a comment on the Welcome ODBD Thread by Jan 10!  You still have time to be entered so hurry on over and leave us some love!!!

Now on to my card...
I used the Our Daily Bread desingns Jan. release set Confirmation.   This set is quite versatile and there are two other sets this month, so be sure to check out all the new releases!   I stamped my cross image lightly on Papertry Vintage Cream with River Rock SU! Ink.  I stamped it again in Chocolate Chip and just cut out the bird.  I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist Pearl.  Very sparkly!

The sentiment is part of the God Bless You on your Confirmation sentiment... I masked off to just use the God Bless You and stamped on Vellum, cut with a Spellbinders Double Ended Tag and adhered over the base of the cross with two antique bronze brads.

My card base is Papertrey Dark Chocolate, the matting is River Rock which I embossed with a CB edge EF.  I did a matching panel on the inside and stamped the dove on the envelope.  I used a Martha Stewart edge punch for the pines around my image, and I used Papertrey Perect Match ribbon.  The prickly pine boughs made me think of the crown of thorns they placed upon Jesus' head.

To see what the rest of the talented ODBD Design Team did for this challenge, visit my DT sisters below:

Thanks so much for looking today!  Please play along with us on this challenge!  It's so easy and you just might win!!!

MMSC35 The Promise

Welcome to week 35 of The  Midnight Madness Sketch!

This is my first card as Guest Diva for Midnight Madness!   I have played along on the MMSC since I first found it, which was pretty close to the beginning!  I'm thrilled and honored to have been asked to be their guest diva this month!  I am also entering it in the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge 20... for a new baby!
I made this card using the just released Our Daily Bread designs set, Noah's Ark.  I also used the dove from the new Confirmation set, which I stamped on poly shrink, colored, punched holes and then shrunk to make a button.
The main image is stamped with Memento Ink on Watercolor paper and watercolored with SU! Markers.  I stamped a second time so I could cut out the animals and pop them up.  I added a few "white caps" to my water with a Signo Gel Pen. I watercolored the sky with a rainbow to remind us all of God's promise!  The card base is Papertrey Vintage Cream.  All the designer paper is K& Co.  The tiny vanilla ribbon is from AC Moore.  The Greenery is an MS Punch, the flowers are Making Memories.  I tied my home made button with linen thread.

We'd love to have you play along with us at Midnight Madness!  There are always prizes to be won!!!

We are kicking off the new year with the release of three new sets, perfect for Baptisms, Confirmation, and New Baby cards! Three blessed hoppers will be chosen randomly to receive One Set of THEIR CHOICE! All you have to do to be eligible to win is complete the hop, leaving comments on each blog and returning to the ODBD Blog and leaving your answer to the question there by Monday, Jan. 4 at 8PM EST. The question will be posted on the ODBD blog, but here's a tip.. as you are hopping along, take note of your favorite set and what you like best about it! Did I mention there will beTHREE WINNERS?!!

One of the big changes that we are so excited about is that Our Daily Bread designs has accepted a position as a Member Company on Splitcoaststampers!

Please visit the ODBD Welcome Forum and leave a comment by January 10! If you do, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50.00 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store! We have lots of things planned including Challenges and a special Prayer Request area!  I  hope to chat with you over on the ODBD Forum on SCS!

Speaking of Challenges,  we will be having a weekly challenge! The weekly challenge will be posted on the SCS Forum as well as the ODBD Blog.   That means more prizes and awards, and fun for all!!!  More on that shortly... stay tuned to the Our Daily Bread designs blog and the SCS Forum for further details. For now... just be sure to be back on Jan 9 when our first Challenge of the New Year will kick off!

OK... now on to my project:
This picture really needs to be enlarged (click to enlarge) to be appreciated... I just could not get a good photo of it!  I had gotten this beautiful frame from Hallmark when they were on sale and I knew there would be a perfect time to use it.  This seemed the perfect time!  I used parts of two new released sets from Our Daily Bread designs: Confirmation, and Baptism / Confirmation Verses.  I stamped the image and sentiment on Papertrey Vintage Cream with Brilliance Platinum Planet ink.  It's beautiful ink... silvery, yet not as strong as silver... almost a champagne cast to it.  I love it but it sure is hard to photograph!!!  LOL!

The designer paper is SEI "Chocolate" and it's also a shimmery grayish silvery color with a touch of gold.  I can't capture the shimmer at all!  I used a Spellbinder's Lattice Edge Die Cut to cut Bazzill Gray and trimmed the image with ZVA Creative Pearls.

I hope you are enjoying the blog hop today, and that you will be inspired by all the possibilities of these new sets!  Thank you for stopping by!

From here hop to Chris to see what great  inspiration she has for you today!

Have fun hopping, and Happy New Year from the Our Daily Bread designs Bread Basket!
