ODBD Sneak Peek

Happy-BD-Tag

Hello everyone! I have a little sneak peek for you! I'm so excited to be sharing a card I made using the soon to be released Our Daily Bread designs Mini Tags 3 Set. Part of this upcoming release is full of all those really USEFUL sentiments we all need all the time... and they are custom made to fit the Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio 3! I also used the soon to release Vintage Border Embossing Plate to emboss the green layer. I used an Ornare piercing template to peirce my corners. The base is Baja Breeze, the green dp is an older SU! dp, and the hydrangea dp is K&Co and was a gift from a dear friend. I used Spellbinders Label 20 to cut it out, and matted it with white which I hand cut after tracing the outside of the die. The roses are ZVA Creative, and the punched boughs are Martha Stewart. This was a super quick card and pretty CAS but I like how it came out and it could be mass produced real easily! There's much more coming your way on May 1 beginning at 8am eastern on the ODBD Blog! Hope to see you then!!!

A Father's Day Moose

Moose-Blessings-2

Hello everyone! I hope you had a very happy and blessed Easter!!! We enjoyed good times with our family, and also celebrated our granddaughter's 10th birthday! We have so much to be thankful for!

Today I have a masculine card to share. This card was made using this month's Our Daily Bread designs Fathers Day set, and Birch Background. I also used a Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio 3 and Label 13 to cut my main image. I watercolored this image, doodled the design to the edge of the panel and then from a second stamping, I cut out a second moose to pop up, and a few pieces of grass and added flower soft to the grass and the sand along the shore. The base is Bazzill, the brown mat is Papertrey Dark Chocolate, and the ribbon is May Arts Faux Suede. For the background, I stamped the birch bg and then used SU! Markers to give a little color to it. Well that's my quick card for tonight! Hope your week ahead is fabulous!!!

Happy Easter!!!

Easter-Blessings

Hello and Happy Easter to you all! Today brings another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge! Sweet, wonderful Rebekka is our hostess this week, and she has chosen Luke 24:46-47 ESV for today's Scripture.

(46) and (Jesus) said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, (47) and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Becky's challenge is to make a round card! The DT have made Easter cards for you! Happy and Blessed Easter!

A perfect Scripture for Easter Sunday, and I know Becky will have a wonderful devotional to share on the Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge blog. I am away celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior with family, and today also is my granddaughter's birthday, so we have a double reason to celebrate! For that reason, my post is short... but I hope you are having a wonderful Easter celebration and taking the time to thank God for His indescribable gift!!!

I made this card using Our Daily Bread designs Cross of Christ set and I am the Way set. I also wanted to play along at Joan's Garden's challenge #15, and her challenge was to make a white and gold Easter card with very few or no embellishments, and we had to use some embossing. I think this is the first time I've EVER made a card with NO embellishments! LOL! However, with the gold embossing, it seems somehow like it is enough. I really wanted to add some ribbon and pearls, but I kept true to the challenge, so here you have it. I stamped the cross in VersaMark and heat embossed with Ranger fine detail gold, then I stamped the sentiment on vellum and heat embossed that. I cut the circles together so they lined up perfectly, and adhered them together. I cut the round base with my Spellbinders Circles Grand, using my Grand Calibur, and then used a Marianne die to cut the Recollections Brushed Gold that I used for the frame. I then embossed three lilies, cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals on my vellum. I do love the softness vellum gives.

Our sponsor this week is Serendipity Stamps! I love their stamps and I'm sure you will too, so play along for a chance to win A QCL sized cling set of the winner's choice!

For complete details on the challenge and our sponsor, and the full devotional, please see the SSIC Blog.

Center Step Poppies

center-step-poppies

Hello everyone! Today I have a Center Step Card Layout that I made using this month's Our Daily Bread designs release, Mother's Day, as well as Customer Favorites Scripture Series One. The base is Pear Pizzazz and the dp is K&Co (a gift from a dear friend- thanks again sweet friend!). I used my Grand Calibur to cut my Spellbinders Beaded Oval and Classic Oval Small. I used Memento Ink to stamp my poppies, then colored them and used the ODBD custom die cut to cut them out real quick! The pearls are Recollections, and I finished off the centers of the poppies with Black Ultra Fine Flower Soft. The basic pattern I used for this center step card is found here.

Friends of the Heart

Sister-Friend-full-2

Hello and happy Sunday everyone! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge, and this week's hostess is the sweet and talented Peggysue. She has chosen Matthew 16:23 for today's Scripture. " Jesus turned and said to Peter, 'Get behind me, Satan!" Peggysue's challenge is to use versamark or same color ink on the same color of paper (e.g., purple ink on purple paper) for a tone on tone background somewhere on your card.

I hope you can see the pattern I created on my background with VersaMark. I stamped the flourish from Layers of Color Nature Walk clear art stamp set in VersaMark in the lower left corner of my aqua background. In the upper left corner I stamped the same little flowers that are colored in the foreground, from Our Daily Bread designs Sing to the Lord set. All along the right side I stamped a pattern from Touch of Elegance art stamp set by Layers of Color. I added a torn postcard dp from K&Co, sponging all the edges of all the layers. I stamped several of the small flowers from Sing to the Lord with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink, colored with Copics and cut out. Some are popped up with dimensionals.

Sister-Friend-nosegay

I have been wanting to do a sort of shabby chic collage wall hanging for some time now. I have been a lover of Chickadees for years, but recently my sister has started collecting them too. So I decided to make this project into a framed art piece for her. The Chickadee is Our Daily Bread designs You Will Find Refuge. The little framed decoration was a pin that I removed the pin part from and adhered to my 6 x 6 frame. The bow is some seam binding that I dyed with ink and wrinkled up while wet, and I used another pretty crocheted element from that treasured scarf I have mentioned before. Three little ZVA Creative roses and some Martha Stewart punched boughs complete the decoration.

DSC01077

This week's verse really needs to be looked at in the context of the rest of the passage. The full verse says "Jesus turned and said to Peter 'Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns." Jesus was not calling Peter Satan here, but is using a word that in Hebrew means adversary or accuser. Jesus had just begun to prepare His disciples for His coming suffering and death. Peter, reacting in human terms had said no, it cannot be! But Jesus knew that what He was about to suffer had to be, because there was no other way to redeem the sinful heart of man. Being God made flesh.... He knew that the plan and mind of God could not be understood by Peter, with his finite human mind. We might think that Jesus' rebuke of Peter sounds harsh, but Jesus knew the much bigger picture, and the perfect plan that He had to fulfill, and I can't help but think that in His humanity He didn't want to even be tempted to agree with Peter! We must never forget that Jesus did what He did on the cross for us, knowing full well the pain He would suffer, but we also need to know that He was also fully man while here on earth, and in that way He also was tempted in every way as we are, (yet without sin). His response to Peter is facing that temptation head on and not letting it even penetrate His will. You know... it's a good example of how we should respond when someone, no matter how much we love them, tempts us to disobey our Lord.... Confronting the temptation and putting it behind us, out of our view or reach would keep us making far more right decisions. It's also a great reminder as we enter this season and celebrate this holy week... Jesus suffered terribly and died for us! He loved us that much! I would have been like Peter.... No Lord... No! But Jesus said... "Father, not my will but yours be done". Let that fact penetrate your thoughts this week and respond to Him with all the love and honor that is due Him! Happy Easter to you all!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Purple Challenge

RRR2quilt

Hello everyone! Today I'm excited to be sharing a card I made for this week's Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge: "Violets, and Purples, and Plums...Oh MY!" Kelley, owner of Our Daily Bread designs is sponsoring the challenge this week, so several of us on the ODBD team made samples along with the talented RRR team. My lavender bow and the rolled rose is made with this gorgeous ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon Store. I love making these rolled roses and this narrow ribbon makes a nice dainty size rose.

My Scripture stamp is from ODBD Scripture Collection 7, and I used Fancy Labels stamped in Grape Memento Ink, and colored the back ground of the label with a Copic Marker. My base is Bazzill, and my quilt squares are scraps from Kaisercraft Lilac Ave. and Memory Box Enchanted packs. I sewed each patch onto the mat. The Leaf and Bough punches are Martha Stewart, and the flourish is QuicKutz. The embossed frame is Joy Craft, which I stenciled with Grape Memento while still in the die. The deep purple roses are ZVA Creative.

Here is a close up of the lavender rolled rose I made:

Hope you enjoyed my purple and green card! I love the color combo but I had to get the photo outside, as inside it looked blue in ALL of about 30 shots, no exaggeration!!! LOL! Link up your card at the Really Reasonable Blog challenge post and good luck!

I used a Spellbinders ribbon tag trio three for the inside sentiment, and instead of ribbon, I used a strip of dp. The CB folder is the Textile folder. The scalloped panel was cut with the smallest Grand Scalloped Square by Spellbinders. I used the sketch from Paper Pretties. Here's the inside sentiment....

Shadow Box for Easter

Shadow-Box-1

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday, and it's time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! Today our hostess is the so sweet and talented Kristine Breach! Kristine has chosen Mark 15:17 "They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him." (CONTEXT PASSAGE: See Mark 15: 16-20)

Kristine's Challenge is to use shades of purple as your main color AND/OR use wood paper or elements on your card.

Shadow-Box-2

I decided that with this Scripture passage in mind, and Easter almost upon us, I would combine a couple sets and make a diorama card. I used the directions from SCS. I changed it bit, using an oval in two sizes for my scene instead of the three little punches in the instructions, and I changed the size of mine. I love that you can make a complete little scene and then fold it flat and fit it in an envelope!

Anway... I used Our Daily Bread designs Bird Borders and Corners and He Will Rise sets. The base for this diorama is a lavender card stock from atd pastel pack. I used Flourishes White to stamp my cross scene on, then I masked and air brushed the sky, colored the crosses and extended the foreground of the scene a bit, coloring with Copics and doodling in with marker. I then made the middle panel out of the lavender cs, cutting and embossing the opening with the largest oval of my Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small with my Grand Calibur. I wanted to have the greenery of the grasses and leaves extending over my opening but did not have purple Stazon Ink, which is what would have been perfect for stamping on acetate. So... necessity being the mother of invention, I stamped on acetate with VersaMark and embossed with Ranger Lavender Glitter Embossing powder. I actually came out pretty! I was surprised! LOL! So I decorated the acetate layer and adhered it right to the middle panel. For the front panel I measured and cut my oval with the largest oval from my Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large from the same lavender cs. For the front and sides of the diorama, I matted on Flourishes White. I stamped all the verses and images with Memento Grape Ink, adhered and added a few roses and boughs.

Shadow-Box-3

While it is so painful to read the Biblical account of Christ's suffering and death on the cross... there really is no more beautiful story than that of the cross! In it we see how truly loved and valuable we are to our Savior! In it we see what sacrificial love looks like! In it we see the release from the penalty of sin that is ours because He who knew no sin took upon Himself our sins, and by His wounds, we are healed. In the cross and subsequent resurrection... we have our assurance that we too will live eternally with Him when our life on earth is over! If He did not rise triumphant from that grave, we would in deed have no hope! But He did, and we do! As we approach this Easter season, lets be sure we take the time to thank Him for the sacrifice He paid, really reflect on all it means to us, and lets commit to live whatever days we have here on earth... for HIS glory!

This week's sponsor is Simon Says Stamp.
The prize is "Why Do Birds Fall in Love" Stamp Set!
We want to thank Simon Says Stamp for their continued support of SSIC!

You're invited to a tea party HERE! GD for OCC

tea-set-3

Hello everyone! I'm so excited and honored to have been invited to Guest Design along with all the talented gals over at Our Creative Corner! You can't imagine how thrilled I was to find out that the challenge this week is all about tea parties! So I have set out my best china, teapots, and even some crumpets to enjoy! You're all invited to join me! I'm a collector of tea pots, and since my Mother passed away, my sister and I also collect tea cups and saucers, so this party is right up my alley. I was inspired by many of the gorgeous English patterns of china I have, much of which was passed down through the family for generations.

tea-party-2

My first project is this tea cup, made using a template from Lauren Meader at My Time Made Easy. I used the PDF file as the SVG did not work on my Cricut. I cut the cup out of Recollections brushed gold heavy card stock, and cut the decorator pieces from Gina K Pure Luxury Ivory. I stamped the floral images from Layers of Color Merci Bouquet clear art stamp set with Memento Rich Cocoa. I colored them with Copics, and then outlined everything with a Gold Spica Pen for a glittery almost embossed look. I really wanted to fancy up my upper edge instead of a straight cut top... so I cut more Gina K cs with my new Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Motifs and the Grand Calibur and embossed. I adhered to the straight edge top and then carefully cut away all of the top of the panel that showed above the motif, thus having the pretty edging on the top. I loved the look that gave!

Tea-Cup-detail

For my handle I used a Cuttlebug die I've had forever and adhered it to the gold. I also cut a smaller Spellbinders Motif for each of the four sides of the base, cutting off part of the design to fit. This would make a lovely presentation for a little gift of tea and goodies!

tea-pot-card

I made this teapot card using my Cricut and the Once Upon a Princess cartridge. I cut the full teapot from the Recollections gold and embossed that with a Sizzix folder. I then cut the inside part from Ivory and stamped it with Layers Of Color Vintage Rose Clear Art set. I colored with Copics. I hand cut some extra elements like the rim for the lid and cut some more Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Motifs for the teapot. I added some lace, wrinkled seam binding and a single rose bud from ZVA Creative. I cut a circle shaped card with a top fold, using my Grand Calibur and the 5.25" circle from the Grande Circle Die Set. I adhered the teapot shape to the circle card. Very quick and easy!

tea-set-sugar-bowl-vase

Then I just needed a little table decor, so I made another cup but did not add the handle and made what looks like a sugar bowl, but I put my rose buds in it for a centerpiece. So there you have it... I hope you enjoyed the tea party as much as I enjoyed preparing it! Many thanks to the gals at OCC for inviting me this week! I had a blast! Now we'd love to have you play along! This is a really fun one... see all the details on the OCC Challenge Blog and link up your project!

Vintage LaBlanche Birthday ~ Challenging!

LaBlanche-front-vintage-bir

Hello and happy Wednesday! Yesterday I got to play just for the fun of it and I'm not too sure about what came out, but here it is anyway. I wanted to play the challenge over at Joan's Gardens. The challenge is:
• Window Top Card ( an opening in the top of the card with the design on the inside)
• Add three colors of flowers for the focal point.
• A Birthday card

I also wanted to play one of my favorite challenges, the Shabby Tea Room, which was to be inspired by this photo:

This image is new to me. It's from LaBlanche and it's a silicone stamp I bought from my DT sisters new store... The Craft's Meow. Lisa has a link to a great video on coloring these images with blending stumps and distress inks. I did not feel I had the right colors of inks to do that so I tried for one of those sepia toned cards with just a hint of color. Not sure I achieved that either, but I used SU! Chalks to color this. I then spritzed heavily with Glimmer Mist in Gold to set the chalks, then I layered on different colors of distress inks with a sponge, hitting some places and avoiding others. I went right over the image with some of the colors, and just did the edges with others. I spritzed again with Glimmer Mist when done sponging. IRL there is a gorgeous glow to this picture but I cannot capture that. I used the three colors for my flowers around this sweet vintage image.

La-Blanche-window-card-open

Next I had to create a card large enough to frame it within a cut out. I wanted it to look like a vintage metal frame. I chose this Spellbinders Label 11 to cut my window from SU! Basic Black. Next I used metallic cream paint and just rubbed it on again in various shades. Then I ran it through with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, matching it up in the middle as it took two passes to do it. At this point I was pretty happy with it but then I started embellishing it and now I'm not so sure. I added a vellum butterfly from the Bridal Dept. at Michael's, brushed gold corners from a very old Spellbinders corner set, and made a little nosegay of ribbon blossoms ( I made the lavender one) and seam binding lace to pick up the flower colors again. I added a tiny tag with my birthday sentiment on it. In looking at it now, I'm not sure I like the embellies, but this was just playing around so you get to see my experiment. LOL! I love these vintage images and hope to play some more to achieve just the look I'm after with them.

LaBlance-vintage-birthday-i

This is the inside of the card. Any message would need to be written on the back where I would add a mat of cream or tan. The stamp is fairly large so using it for the cut out window didn't leave me much room for a message inside.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Paper Take Weekly - Anything Goes + Optional - Something New
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
Crazy Challenge - Just Add Flowers
Make it Monday - Anything goes
Paper Playtime - Anything Goes
Stamp-N-Doodle - Shabby Chic or Vintage
There's Magic in the Air - Lets use flowers
Crafty Pad - Flowers
I Did It Creations - Anything Goes
Scrappy Frogs - Flowers and Lace

Thanks for taking a look at my little "experiment". Hopefully I'll get better at this! LOL! Have a great day!

Take Refuge in Him

Refuge-6

Hello everyone! I have a quick card to share with you today. I made this for this week's Shining the Light Challenge over at ODBD. The challenge is to use birds. I used this month's new release, Bird & Butterfly Labels, Large Bird Background, Small Bird Background, Scripture Collection 7 and Sing to the Lord. I stamped the small bird background onto Prima Sparkling Spring light blue dp, then I heat embossed the small bird background over that in white ep. I used my new Spellbinders Parisian Motifs to frame the image, and I cut it with the Spellbinders Label Eighteen, which this stamp was custom made for by our very own DT member, Dawn Lusk. I used the Grand Caliber to cut these with. I also used a T Holtz die for my edge treatment on the left, an MS punch for the white edge on the right and the negative part left over from another card for the bottom edge. I used a Sizzix embossing folder on the pink striped K&Co dp (wedding). Sorry I don't know the name of that folder. The bird is stamped with Memento London fog to keep it soft, then colored with Copics and cut out. I used SU! Baja Breeze ink for the main panel.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes, Crazy Challenge -Just Add Flowers, Make it Monday - Anything goes, My Partner in Crafting Crime -Layer it up, Paper Playtime -Anything Goes, Stamping Vacation - you name the challenge (Just use pastels), There's Magic in the Air - Lets use flowers, Corrosive Challenges - 2 Pastel Colours, Crafty Pad - Flower, Creative Cowgirls - Spring or Easter, Creative Inspirations Paint - Spring, Gingerloft - 2W - Got the Blues, I Did It Creations - Anything Goes, Sparkles Forum - Springtime, Cupcake Inspirations - Inspiration Photo*(chose the light blue and peachy pink cupcake), Catch The Bug - Anything Goes, Secret Crafter - Butterflies , Fairy Fun Fridays - Spring-themed, Fairy Knoll - 2E, 'whatever'

For a Child

SN-Joy

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday!
With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! Our hostess this week is the sweet Miesje! She has chosen the following Scripture for this week's challenge:

Luke 18:17
"Amen I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."

Miesje's challenge is to make a card for a child.

Why would Jesus say this? I believe it's because children accept with complete faith. They don't question every little detail, doubting that which they cannot understand. If a parent or trusted person tells them something is true... they simply believe and accept it with all their heart. God wants us to accept Him this same way. It's strange but sometimes as people grow up.... they let the things of this world, and confidence in their own abilities and understanding become the things they trust, and it's harder for them to accept the truth of God's love for them and the so simple way they can come to Him. They want to complicate it... turn it into something it's not. It's so simple... even a child can understand it! God loves you. He provided the way for your sins to be forgiven and for you to enter His Heavenly kingdom. Simply believe and receive Him like a child.

My card today is made with a Sugar Nellie digi! Her name is Joy. Isn't she sweet? I colored her with Copics and used this week's sketch from Bearly Mine. The dp is Prima Annalee (thanks to a so sweet friend) and Prima Fairy Flora. The image is printed on Gina K Pure Luxury White. The lacy punched work is Martha Stewart, and I wove some sheer pink ribbon through it. I used the Floral Doily Accents (Spellbinders) for the flowers and the hand made crocheted flower is also a gift from my dear friend... one I treasure!

Our Sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps
