Sneak Peek: You are not forgotten

You-are-not-forgotten-TU

Hello friends!  I have a sneaky peek for you today!  I am using two new wonderful sets from Our Daily Bread designs and two older sets as well.  I used the Old Flag Background stamp and Not Forgotten, which are being released on July 1, and if you look carefully you can see the words from I Pledge of Allegiance on the left side.  I also used my Thank You sentiment from the ODBD Mini Tags Two

For the flag background stamp, I colored with Prisma Pencils and Odor Free Mineral Spirits to blend.  I found this image very easy to color as there is lots of shading in it to help you along, but I didn't want to use that much ink from my Copics.... so the Prismas worked fine!  I then did a lot of distressing by sponging with TH Distress Walnut Stain and Antique Linen on the insides.  I stamped You are not forgotten on a speckled bookmark I had, cut it to length, spritzed it with water, crumpled it up, rubbed distress ink directly on it to pick up those lines, then I stamped parts of the image from this set on it, picking up the postal mark and some print.  I sponged Antique Linen all over it and sponged the edges with Walnut Stain.  The lined paper is from a K&Co called Flora & Fauna Ledger Paper.  I love this pad!  It has a loose leaf binding and I tore a piece and used all the little torn edges that remained, sponging and distressing some more after stamping the main image and the thank you sentiment, and tearing the pieces  to shape.  The base is Gina K Craft.  The bracket die on the left is THoltz and the File Closures were from the wedding dept. at M's.  I did some stitching and added a couple brads.

I am excited about these new sets!  I can't wait to show you more!  July 1.... 8am at the ODBD Blog will be our Release Blog Hop!  Great prizes and inspiration... hope to see you then!

Red White and Blue Thank You!

Star-Quality-Thank-You

Hello everyone!  Happy Sunday!  It's time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge!  Today, our hostess is the sweet and gifted Miesje!  She has chosen
Galatians 5:1

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery".

Her challenge is to make a Red, White and Blue Thank You card.

I decided to use the sketch from Lily Pad Lovely Lucy's Lines.
This is definitely THE most CAS card I've ever made but the white does make the colors pop!  LOL!  When I saw the sketch I immediately thought of this great little set from The Craft's Meow.  It's called You've Got Star Quality.  I used a base of SU! craft and then layers on SU! white.  I stamped the stars with SU! Real Red and Night of Navy.  I used SU! hemp twine and Spellbinders Grommet tags for the sentiment which is from Our Daily Bread designs Mini Tags 2.  I had these cute star brads in my stash and decided to just do a little piercing in the corners and a little bling in the center of each star to keep it CAS.

I'm so thankful for all the freedoms I enjoy!  In America, we have enjoyed many freedoms that many people in the rest of the world have not enjoyed... but even greater than that is the fact that in Christ, we are a new creation, and we no longer are in bondage to sin. This passage reminds us that now we are children of God's grace and no longer are we bound by the yoke of the many laws which until Christ's life, death and resurrection was the way people strove to obtain God's favor.  Paul is reminding us that we are not to go back to that thinking and be enslaved by it again, because Christ fulfilled the law!   We now need to understand that it is by grace we are saved, not through works. It's not that we no longer try to obey the principles of the moral laws...  but our salvation is not dependent on our doing so!  The law showed the need for a perfect Savior.  Our accepting HIM as our Savior and perfect sacrifice frees us from the law of sin and secures our future with Him in heaven.  Yes, we do still sin... but Christ's death, burial and resurrection proved Him victorious over sin, and His blood sacrifice is applied to everyone who believes and receives Him!  His blood covers all our transgressions and God sees us as righteous because Christ has cleansed us.  No longer are we doomed to spiritual death.... but as new creatures in Christ, we have a Savior who is preparing a place for us in heaven because of the price He paid to remove our sins as far as the east is from the west.  Christians are not perfect.... we are just forgiven!!!  Thank the Lord for His forgiveness and His grace!

The prize is four free digis from their site!  We want to thank them for their generosity!

Shabby Tearoom HFC posies

Shabby-posies-HFC

Hello everyone! My family has left and I'm trying to catch up with my crafting and blogging! While I have a ton of things I "should" be doing, I just had to have a little fun playing in a couple challenges first! I wanted to play in this week's Shabby Tearoom Challenge which was a color challenge as well as to use classic patterns of gingham or polka dot patterns.

I stamped my image from Heartfelt Creations HCPC3306 Posy Patch Garden Delights, and I used the HCD701 Posy Patch Diecuts to cut a few of the small posies to pop up. The sentiment is Our Daily Bread designs Mini Tags 3 .  My designer paper is Melody Ross Homespun Chic and Heidi Grace Ascent. The circle element behind my cut out image is Nellie's Die Cut, and then I layered on the inside portion of a Cheery Lynn Designs Canadian Kaleidoscope Doily which I cut out to just use the inside part to fit over the green layer. The framing behind the sentiment is a Nellie's Multi Die small. I colored the image with Copics and added some red gingham ribbon from my stash. This was a fun one to help me get back some mojo after running around with my grandkids and daughter all last week.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:
Hooked on Crafts - Anything goes,  Karens Doodles  Flower power, Make it Monday - Anything Goes, Corrosive Challenges -  Ribbons and Bows, Cupcake Inspirations - Inspirational Photo, Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge -  Use embellishments starting with "R" (ribbon), Inspire Me Fridays - Always anything goes, Stamp Something - Pretty papers

Thanks for taking a look and I love knowing you were here!
Hugs,

Thank You

Thank-You-in-lace

Hello everyone! Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there, and to all those men who have been like Dads to special kids in their lives! I thank God for the Godly man He gave me for a Dad. I have missed him for the past 38 years! I also am thankful for my husband who is a great dad and grandpa too... speaking of which... today is the last day of our family vacation. We have had so much fun together and I apologize that I have not been able to visit most of you this past week or so but I will be back on track this coming week! :)
Link
Anyhoo... it's time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge. Today our hostess is the wonderful MariLynn! MariLynn has chosen Hebrews 11:1 for this week's Scripture.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things unseen.

Her challenge is to make a card or project that you doodle on

Faith is at the heart of our very being if we are Christians. In fact... any belief is based on faith in someone or something. However, NO other faith rests on a risen Savior. Sin has always required a blood sacrifice, and now that price has been paid once for all in the perfect sacrifice of Christ's shed blood. Hebrews is a book that reminds us that in the Old Testament, people looked forward to God's promise of a coming Messiah in faith. Through the ages, faith has carried God's people through whatever difficulties they faced. Today, with the knowledge that Jesus was the fulfillment of those promises, and with the gift of salvation offered to all who would receive it.... how much more should we today be able to believe God's promises are true, and to cling to them!

We are living in difficult times and it seems the news every day is filled with stories of pain and suffering all over the world. Sometimes it feels like the very earth is crying out to God! In our personal lives, many are struggling with serious health issues, pain, failed relationships, financial devastation, uncertain futures, and the list goes on. Uncertainty, fear, anxiety and despair are the burden of so many hearts today. However, we are NOT without hope! God has given us the ultimate gift in His one and only Son, and we can rest in His promises for each of us. His Word is true, for He Himself is truth. Living in these days after Christ's life, death and resurrection we have so much advantage over those who looked forward to the Messiah's coming, having not yet seen it. We have God's Word, we have a hope and a future because not only did He die, but He arose, victorious over death, and left us the promise that He is preparing a place for us! We know that He loves us, because His Word says so! We know that all things (yes, even the bad things) can be worked for our good if we love Him and are called to His purposes, because He said so! We know that we can cast our burdens on Him, because He cares for us! His Word says so! We know that His grace is sufficient for us no matter what our circumstances.... His Word says so! So why are we anxious? I think it's when we take our eyes off of the object of our faith that we start to doubt, start to fear, start to be anxious and maybe even angry with our circumstances. If Christ has become your Savior... His promises are yours. I encourage you to bathe yourself in them and let them comfort you, surround you and carry you, for truly, there is nothing in this life we hold on to so dearly that will surpass all time and last for eternity. Our eternity with Him will so far exceed what we can even imagine today, and our earthly trials will seem so small compared to the greatness of His riches in glory! We're told in God's Word that without faith it is impossible to please God. I have placed my faith in Him! I rest in full assurance of what I have not yet seen (eternity in heaven).... and that faith rests on so much I have already seen and experienced, that I KNOW that I can trust every word He has spoken! Some may ask... how can I know for sure that I am His child? He tells us that His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are His children. We feel it in our hearts and even that experience alone helps us KNOW. If you'd like to know more about how you can know.... email me. I'd love to help you be sure!

To meet this week's challenge, I have doodled on my card by faux stitching the vertical panel, and I doodled white poster paint on my flower. I have used this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs Serve The Lord along with the custom die cut made for it, and the Crocheted Background stamp, which I LOVE! I stamped with Memento London Fog on Cryogen White. I colored my image with Copics and doodled on the white pen marks as highlights. For my horizontal panel I cut the lace out at the bottom of the panel. I used Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents to frame the image. All the dies can be cut at once with the Spellbinders Grand Calibur! LOVE that!!! The dp is Prima Madeline, the ribbon is Martha Stewart, the little rose is ZVA Creative.

SNS Always Time For You

SNS FLKR sz

Hello everyone! I made this card last month when I was a Guest Designer for Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps but have not posted it here on my blog yet. I made it using SNS Tea Time. I stamped the tea cup three times on scraps of designer paper from Prima Sparkling Springs and one piece of Crafty Secrets. I cut them out and with a craft blade cut along the front top lip of each cup, then I tucked each cup into the next to create my stacked pile of cups. The base is white (Flourishes) and the dp is Prima Sparkling Springs. I sewed lace onto my paper diagonal strips but it totally doesn't show up in the photo! I stamped half of one of the sentiments in the set in black on white and cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Tag set and every layer is popped up on dimensionals. The ribbon is Martha Stewart and I added four white pearls.

I scheduled this post for this week because I am off enjoying time with my grand kids and daughter. I am sorry I have almost no computer time so my commenting is down.... I promise to make it up to you after this week! :) This is my family vacation that I look forward to all year long! The kids are growing so quickly. This year our grandson who is 13 learned to wakeboard! Our granddaughter is loving tubing and swimming....we had a great day trip to a local gem mine, and a hike in the mountains is planned for tomorrow. We are all just enjoying being together!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week!

Time to Celebrate Father's Day!

Time-to-Celebrate-Father's-

Hello my friends! Happy Sunday! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! Today, our challenge hostess is the sweet and talented Lisa! Lisa has chosen (Eph 6:2-4 NRSV) for this week's Scripture verse! "Honor your father and mother"--this is the first commandment with a promise: {3} "so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." {4} And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

Lisa's challenge is to make a Father's Day card or a card praising our Father in Heaven.

I'm enjoying vacation with my grand kids and we are running and having fun! I look forward to this time all year long! So my post will be short today! I know Lisa's devotional will be wonderful so please be sure to check out the Stampin Sisters in Christ Blog to read it and get all the details on the challenge!

For my card I used this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs called Time, and also Father's Day. I used BoBunny Timepiece dp, Prism Copper Metallic, and Bazzill for the base. I embossed my image with Ranger Copper embossing powder and purposely over heated it so it lost it's shine, but retained the copper color. I love copper, but I wanted this to look old, and the shiny just didn't work for me! LOL! So after I embossed, I sponged, crumpled up and sponged some more, distressed all my edges and sponged some more.... trying to achieve that old feel. I embossed the dp with a Cuttlebug folder and sponged it. I stamped some twill that I had saved from a bundle of towels I had purchased some time ago with T H Distress Ink in Walnut Stain with the words Husband and Father from the Father's Day set. I embossed the Time to Celebrate sentiment the same as the clock and added a T Holtz brad.

The sketch I used was for this week's Midnight Madness Sketch#107.

Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp!
The prize is "Elephant Love"
We want to thank Simon Says Stamp for their continued support!

Cherry Blossom Hello!

Cherry-Bloossom-Hello

Hi friends!
Just a quick post tonight! I wanted to play in Flourishes release week sketch challenge but I'm getting ready for the family to get here and I am rushing... so this is pretty CAS for me. However... it did get done in the midst of a pretty busy day of cleaning! LOL! So.... here is my Get Sketchy Entry. I used Flourishes Cherry Blossom set, Flourishes white card stock, and the designer paper is Prima Annalee. I stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics, then highlighted with Spica pens for some shimmer. Sorry you can't see that in this night time photo. The butterfly is from some blog candy I won from Heather! Thanks so much Heather!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Come play along for a chance at the new release!

That's what Friends are For!

Friends

Hello my friends! I'm sorry I have been a little slow in my posts lately but I have a lot going on and I have just not had the time to give it! Today I wanted to share a card I made for this week's Sketch Saturday and also Our Daily Bread's Shining the Light Challenge, to use a sentiment only for your stamping. The sketch called for that little triangle in the upper left corner of the main panel, so I cut the birds out of the designer paper because I thought the birdies went perfectly with the sentiment I chose. This sentiment is one of Our Daily Bread designs new stamps this month from the Blessings Collection called "Friends". Loving these single stamps! Check out all the new collections Kelley has introduced!

We have a pair of Cardinals nesting in our bush just next to our front steps. There are eggs in the nest and mom and dad are both attentively watching it. I'm excited to watch the babies hatch and grow and hope nothing happens to them since they are a little exposed! I guess I just had to use this part of the Websters pages dp because of them! My grandkids will be here all next week and I'm hoping they might see some babies!

Here is my card recipe:
Card Stock: Papertrey
Designer Paper: Websters Country Estate, BoBunny Gabrielle
Accessories: Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle, Recollections bronze half pearls, CB embossing folder, TH Distress Inks in Walnut Stain, Brushed Corduroy, Dimensionals

This is also for the following challenges:

Kind Hearts, Thoughts, Words and Deeds

Kindness-Dahlia-front

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Clallenge! This week our hostess is the Lovely Linda! Linda has chosen John 13:34-35 for this week's Scripture.

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. "

Linda's challenge is:
Use something new on your project - it can be a new product, technique, embellishment - even a color combo that is new for you - show us what you got!!

I have used all sorts of new things! My image on the front of my card is the newly released "Dahlia" from Our Daily Bread designs. It's a single stamp and is wonderful for cutting out layers and popping up with the paper tole technique, which I did here! It is big enough for a scrapbook page, yet small enough to still make a beautiful statement on a card! I stamped it with Memento Ink and colored with Copics, using a new color combination for coloring for me. Because my card stock is ivory I wanted to color the Dahlias with an ivory tone, touched by a hint of violet shades, so I used V12, V000 and Y0000. I never would have thought those colors would blend but they did and I like how they look in real life even though I can't get a photo that I like for the life of me! I then spritzed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Irredescent Gold. Yummy!

I also used a brand new embossing/die folder from Marianne Designables which I picked up from my LSS, Terryfic Times. I embossed and cut the front panel of the card, then embossed/cut another panel, cutting it to a smaller size for the inside. I stamped another new ODBD stamp from the new "Blessings" series... "Kind Hearts" with Brilliance Ink, and sponged some of the ink on the raised areas of my inside panel. I used a craft blade to slit into the design where I needed to in order for the sentiment panel to fit behind it. I added some bling and matted with a piece of dp from a K&Co Madeline pad. To make sure that the design of my card front exactly lined up with the design of my inside panel, I held it against the front panel on the inside with adhesive on it, then closed the card and voila! They line up perfectly! On the front, because I was using a sketch from Peachy Keen Stamps, I added some QuicKutz flourishes cut from the back side of my violet dp. I added some bling to the front and called it done. I think this is the first time the front of my card has been a single layer but the inside has been more!

Kindness-Dahlia

I chose this new sentiment because to me, it is very reflective of this "new commandment" that this week's verse is talking about. This new commandment that the Lord gave us simply tells us to love one another as Christ loved us. When we really do love one another, we put the other person's best interests ahead of our own. Christ loved us this way when He left His throne in heaven, humbled Himself to become a man, to suffer as a man, to be tempted and tried as a man, and ultimately to be put to death in the most painful way possible so that we could be reconciled to God. It's more than friendship, more than a physical type of love, it's a selfless, giving kind of love that God has for us and we should strive to have for others. How often do we enjoy the comforts of our lives and give little thought to the hurting lives of the homeless, and poor, the seemingly "less than lovely" whom we see every day and drive by without hardly giving a thought. How much of our time do we give to visit the elderly, the imprisoned, etc.? I do believe this new commandment was given to us because God Himself IS Love, and we are to be reflections of Him in us! So reaching out to those in need is one way of showing that love of Christ in us.... but there are other ways too! Sometimes we need to just be silent and humble, not always having to voice our opinions, and not always having to prove ourselves right! Sometimes, we need to go to a loved one whom we have wronged and let them know we are sorry... and that we're not too proud to tell them so and ask for their forgiveness! Sometimes.... real Godly love means tough love! As parents, we know it's always easier to just over look when a child does wrong than to correct them and show them why it was wrong, and yet God wants us to help others see the way that is right! Letting a child "get away with" sin and wrong is not loving them! I see Godly love as caring enough about others to want God's best for them and to do all I can to help them find that and live that for His glory. Now mind you, I'm preaching to myself here! I fail miserably at it often... I'm often selfish, unwilling or just not thinking enough about it. I think God wants us to be intentional in loving one another! One of the greatest ways you can love is to pray for that person! Have you ever had someone hurt you so badly that it was all you could do to even think about them? I have and for a long time I felt such bitterness, pain, anger.... all sorts of sinful feelings toward this person. Then one day God laid it on my heart that I was to pray for my "enemy", and to do good to those who wronged me. Ouch! That was hard! But one day I wrote in my prayer journal what I was going to do and started doing just that. The amazing thing is that MY heart changed! I no longer carry that pain, bitterness and anger in my own heart, and that burden has been lifted from my shoulders! I began to see that person as God does... one who He have His life for because He loved them that much! You know... God is so amazing! In giving this "new" commandment, not only was He wanting us to give our best to others, but He knew in His great wisdom, that loving others was what is good for us!!! He loves US, and wants what's best for US, and He knows that truly loving others brings us joy and fulfillment!

Our sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps! We thank Lori for her continued support! The prize is $15.00 in stamps!

I decided to made a card sized pop up gift card holder. The card is 4 x 6" and the original idea came from PaperCrafts Connection a couple years ago. My base is Ruby Red and the dp is Websters Pages triple collection Spring Market/Yacht Club/Country Estate mini pad. For the front I stamped several lace borders with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on Flourishes white cs. I sponged with THoltz distress ink in Antique Linen. I stamped the image and sentiment with the same ink and colored with Copics. I used the custom die to cut the main panel.... wow! It cuts like a dream! I cut the lace borders to frame my main panel and adhered. The bow is seam binding which I also distressed a bit with ink.

I thought the pop up gift card holder would be perfect for a nice thank you to anyone from a Sunday School teacher, secretary, musican... you name it! Everyone enjoys a little gift card to some place special and it's a great way to show gratitude! I decorated the inside with another sentiment from the set, sponged, framed with a Spellbinders Fancy Tag Two and matted that on a Spellbinders Mega Oval I cut from a paper I had stamped the lace background on, again in rich cocoa. Below is a look at the side view.
